Jul. 28th, 2007 08:42 amWhew! Back from a whirlwind trip to Madison, WI to do an inspection of a contract facility doing work for the company I work for.
For those who remember the old Hertz commercial with OJ Simpson, I replicated his airport run at the Minneapolis, St. Paul airport. My flight from Madison was late due to thunderstorms and arrived 10 minutes before my flight to San Francisco was scheduled to take off. Of course it arrived at gate G22, which is all the way at the far end of the G terminal. The SFO fight was leaving from gate F14, which is towards the end of the F terminal. Duffle bag in one hand and tote in the other I sprinted at least a mile, dodging all in my path. Thank goodness for moving walkways; you sure can pick up some speed on those. Arriving at Gate F14 I was stunned and amazed to see a plane still there. I staggered on board and fell into my seat, gasping and sweaty. Of course we continued to sit there for another 30 minutes, waiting for other stragglers. At least I made it and we actually made up the lost time, arriving at SFO roughly at the expected arrival time, 11:30 pm.
Yesterday at work I was totally fried.
I leave again Monday, but this time for a much desired and needed trip home to New Hampshire to hang out with my father, my sister and her family, and to relax.
