Mar. 7th, 2010 09:24 amI haven't had much to say in the past 3 months. I have 18 work days left. I am taking a course offered by the out-placement company working with us poor unfortunate souls. It starts tomorrow and it is essentially, 'what do you want to do with the rest of your life?'
I am hoping for answers.
I was at the library yesterday, looking for a book suggested by the coach of the above course. It was not in the stacks, but I did grab a couple mysteries to while away the evening.
Have you noticed that many published books now-a-days are like mediocre fanfiction? The one I started last night, part of the 'Gourmet Detective' series, has poor writing, poor editing and factual errors. I would stick to fanfiction, but it is dangerous to take my computer into the bathtub with me.
I have not written much myself, being enthralled by the tsunami of good fanfic engendered by the release of the new Star Trek movie last June. Perhaps when I am laid off I will work on a Star Trek story of my own. Or maybe I should publish a book. I know I can do as well as some of the drek I find on the library shelves. /end rant/

Date: 2010-03-09 09:12 pm (UTC)FanFic - Book?
Date: 2010-07-17 03:43 pm (UTC)This morning I went to reread 'Banished' for probably the 6th or 7th time. I wished again that I had not found it so long after you wrote it, so I could post my opinion where you would see it. I realized then that I could just post it in your most recent journal page. So, here I came. Now I'm worried you still won't see it since it's been a few months since you posted. Hopefully, you'll see this soon.
'Banished is one of the few SnapeFics that I turn to over and over again. I not only love to see Snape come into his own, but the original characters are wonderful in it. Very fleshed out and real. I see no reason why you wouldn't be good at an entirely original story of your own.
Good luck with everything! - Holly (known as Hwyla in the HP forums)

Date: 2010-07-18 01:48 am (UTC)You'd think that after being laid off I would find time to write more, but the muse, she is avoiding me. I am deeply immersed in 'Star Trek' fanfic still, but no new story idea has popped into my head yet.
I should post more in my journal though.
